Meet Risa Ferrer
Risa Ferrer is a film and theater actress based in San Francisco
Risa’s love for movies and the acting profession began very early on in childhood after her first trip to the movie theater to see The Lion King. She studied acting in San Francisco at Studio ACT and has completed acting intensives with Crowded Fire Theater Company and the African American Shakespeare Company. She also credits her acting career and personal life successes to the mediation/spiritual practice she developed at the San Francisco Zen Center.
Risa has performed in theater productions with the San Francisco Bay Area Theater Company (SFBATCO), Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS), the African American Shakespeare Company, and Bindlestiff Studio. Always looking for opportunities to rise to the occasion, she is excited to expand her career in film and is willing to travel for projects.
Risa is passionate about telling stories about the lived experiences of people of color, women, and anyone who identifies as an underdog. Risa’s personal journey is one of self discovery, transformation, and resilience. A firm believer in transforming pain into purpose.
Her purpose as a performer is to inspire joy and hope in all that watch her work. She believes that when it comes from her heart it will go to the heart. Her biggest source of inspiration is her mother, Marilyn, who passed away in 2018 whose legacy Risa proudly carries on.
Originally born and raised in San Diego, Risa believes she still brings the sunny laidback SoCal vibes with her wherever she goes with the added edge of a NorCal spiritual rebirth. A California girl through and through.
During her free time she enjoys going to concerts, the movies, and the beach. She loves getting down on a dancefloor, the thrill of a new adventure, and time spent with loved ones.
